Are your homes full of clutter? Need to give things away to the karang guni (read: rag-and-bone man who goes door-to-door to collect unwanted household items to sell)? Well, before you do that, think again! You could use some of these household items to workout! Yes you read that right. While equipment meant for exercises like dumbbells and resistance bands are undoubtedly more useful, that doesn’t mean household items aren’t good to use! Here’s a list of very unexpectedly useful things you can use to exercise.
1. Rags
Yes, cleaning rags. Those you use to clean up spills or wipe the couch. Housewives, you’ll know best. Here is one brutal workout you can do with those rags! Work your abs and arms with this exercise. You could even do this exercise to clean the floor! Talk about killing two birds with one stone. This will definitely earn you some praises from your fierce mother-in-law!

Do 3 sets of 10 and you will surely feel the burn, but never give up!
2. Chair
Singapore… the tuition nation, the workaholic nation. The students stuck to their chairs doing their assignment, the working adults stuck to their chairs typing away furiously. Whenever you feel sleepy from all that work, get off your chair and do some exercises! It is easier than you think.
3. Wall
Plenty of wall exercises you can do! If you want to work your arms, do wall push-ups! This is especially good for people who cannot do the normal full-body push ups due to injuries. As that exercise requires your arms to support your whole body weight, it may not be suitable for people like those who just recovered from an injury or those who are older in age. Instead, wall push-ups allow you to work your arm while having your body weight still supported by your legs as you will be standing!

Wall squats is another good variation of squats and ensures your back is protected. When doing squats, your back should be straight and upright. However, a common mistake made is when people start leaning forward or backward, hurting their lower back as a result. With the wall as a backing, you just have to stick your back against the wall and you can be rest assured you are doing squats the right way!
Another exercise you can do, albeit more challenging, is another variation of wall push-ups, except this time, your feet are on the wall! It is called decline push-ups.

As you are not using equipment, you are not restricted or limited in your workouts, and this gives you flexibility in switching your routines or even making it harder, all in the comfort of your own home.
You can do these exercises anytime. After a long day at working just sitting down at your desk and typing away, before going to school or work and whenever you can squeeze out some time! We hope this article has shown you how easy it is to work out, and that you feel inspired and motivated to get fit! There’s no excuses you should be giving anymore!
